Berwin, a young cub loses his mother, who disappeared on an ice floe around Wrangel Island.  He bonds with a researcher named Soren, who lives in the area studying the Artic Ice cap.  A fierce storm approaches, which will make it difficult for Berwin to survive.  The story of one little bear helps readers, young and old, to look at the poverty of hunger and why the bear population can no longer enjoy their natural habitat due to global warming.
